What led you to create this education project?
The motivation came from the fact that kept receiving messages from hair professionals, who follow my work, in which they ask me how they can also be part of the fashion world and travel all over the world; on the other hand, and unfortunately, the education of hairdressers in Portugal, and in most places in the world, is quite difficult due to the lack of offer, professionals are very willing to learn and keep themselves up to date with skills and trends, although, education is still not available to all, and not specific to the professional’s needs. Bearing these two assumptions in mind, and due to the fact that my professional path to date has led me to work in one of the most exclusive fashion teams in the world, I thought it was good to give a little of myself and help to value professionals in the hairdressing field by sharing the steps I've taken on my path, and what I've learned so far, so that other professionals can also make the leap.

How do you describe the project?
backstage hair brings a unique vision to hair education, where participants will have the opportunity to know, first hand, many of the backstage secrets, the bases for them to work in the backstage, their secrets and tricks, and finally, how to perform some of the most iconic catwalk looks. This course is not only for young professionals who want to venture out and travel the world doing what they love most, but also for any curious professional who wants to learn the backstage techniques and adapt them to their salon, on a daily basis.

During the course, what will the participants learn?
Participants will be able to get to know the entire organization behind a catwalk show: from the list of material they have to bring, what to buy and have in their kit, what behavior and body language they have to adopt, the basic techniques that are asked of them when they start working in this hairdressing field, as well as all the information regarding agencies (how to contact them, how to organize payments and, essentially, get paid).
The course occurs over the course of two days, usually from 9:30AM to 6PM: day one has a theorical morning, followed by hand-on practice in the afternoon; the second day it’s a full day of hands-on practice.
The course is taught in English, Portuguese and Spanish, and can be scheduled for anywhere in the world.
The backstage hair programme can be taken to your own salon, taught in your own space to educate your entire salon team.

Is there any experience requirement for the professionals who wish to book?
It is recommended that professionals have at least 1 year of hairdressing experience, so that they can efficiently take advantage of everything they will be taught.

Is it necessary to purchase material to attend the course?
We provide all the material that’s needed to complete the course.
Participants, as an option, can bring a small personal kit: a hairdryer, a curling iron, a board, assorted brushes and combs, scissors and razors.
